The Price of a Man

If you want to make a dramatic leap ahead in your business what do you do? Sitting and waiting is not an option and Eric Sawyer is certainly not a ‘sit and wait’ kind of guy. Having built a highly successful medical technology business he wants more and he wants it fast. And especially he wants to smash his old mentor Ken, who he now sees as his key rival. Eric’s wife Jackie also wants to grow the business, but her thoughts do not align with her husband’s’.

As Eric goes for all-out attack he hatches a plan to recruit an assistant. How will this work? In parts brilliantly! But of course the unforeseen intervenes and the best laid plans of mice and men deviate from their assigned course. As things change Eric has to adapt and develop new schemes to achieve his goals, barely keeping the plan on track. Things get riskier, but he is so focussed on the end that the dangers escape him.

As Eric works his plan, Jackie is developing her own schemes. With the passage of time, though their methods are different, the two plots become entangled in ways that complicate the picture for each. With every escalation, snags emerge and the stakes increase. Will Eric’s aggression succeed or will Jacqui’s more subtle approach win out?

Set in Sydney, this fast paced thriller entwines the medical world with the cosmopolitan city-scape. The twists and turns of the plot lead to an inescapable, but nerve twisting and completely unexpected dénouement.
