Selected Poems
A collection of atmospheric, descriptive and in places emotional pieces that span some fifty years of thoughts and feelings, sights and sounds, tastes and touches, loves and losses.
I started writing poetry when I was in my teens and locked away in a boarding school not far from the severe Suffolk coast. It was a kind of emotional journal, tracking my transition for a boy to an adolescent and thence on the way to adulthood. I have continued to write ever since. Sometimes it has been in great gales of work and at other times the lightest rain of words. But it has been a constant, always there and often striking me at the oddest of times.
The book is on two parts; the first contains all of the poems that are included on the album "Of Love and Loss and Dreams", together with an elucidation of the poems, for those who would have me explain myself a little! The second part is a further selection of works, again stretching back to the start of my chronicle.
I write these things for me, but have shared them with others as it seemed appropriate. Now it seems propitious to invite a wider audience to consider them.
